We want to rebalance the relationship between business and nature.
The food industry is one of the biggest emitters of greenhouse gases (GHGs) globally, second only to the energy sector. These GHGs drive climate change, which in turn threatens our ability to produce food. We need urgent action if we’re to avoid pushing the environment to a tipping point from which it can never recover.
Building regenerative, climate positive impacts across our whole sphere of influence.
Across our whole organisation, we’re energised in our approach to the net zero challenge, and we’re putting a lot of work into making our data and systems robust.
We’re a committed member of Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), which works with more than 4,000 businesses around the world to drive climate action in the private sector. We have set science-based targets to ensure we reduce emissions in line with the goal of the Paris Agreement.
We rebaselined our targets in 2025 to reflect significant changes to our business, such as new aquisitions. For example, SK Chilled Foods and Zorba Delicacies joined the Compleat Food Group in February 2024, followed by Harvey & Brockless in September 2024.
Nature is becoming an increasingly important topic across all industries, especially ours. A healthy natural world is vital to the production of food, so we’re committed to helping it thrive.
The arrival of frameworks such as SBTi for Nature and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) makes it clear that nature needs to be a key business priority, so we’re building nature-related metrics into the data capture work we’re doing with Sustained, so we can map our impact in this area.
We have signed up to the WRAP’s UK Food and Drink Pact and are committed to protecting critical water resources. In 2025/26, we’ll also be reviewing our water stress targets for both our own operations and key suppliers.
The Compleat Food Group are proud to be a part of Chester Zoo’s Sustainable Palm Oil Communities Project as a Sustainable Palm Oil Ambassador.
We already source 100% certified sustainable palm oil through RSPO supply chains and we are working to ensure that where palm oil is present in our products, it will be sourced from segregated or identity-preserved sustainable sources. By doing this we know that we are helping to protect wildlife around the world from the impact of unsustainable agricultural practices, whilst encouraging others to make the change to sustainable palm oil.
We want to rebalance the relationship between business and nature.
A Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) is an analysis technique that identifies environmental impacts.
It’s clear UK consumers want help to make better food choices, not only for their personal wellbeing, but for the health of the planet.
As a major food company, we transport a significant volume of temperature-controlled goods from the EU.
The Compleat Nature team at our Palethorpes Bakery is prioritising the creation of spaces to increase biodiversity with the added benefit of enhancing green areas for the wellbeing of colleagues.
