We are now looking for a dedicated Shift Manager for our Sunday to Thursday Night shift at our bakery in Crewe, Cheshire, home of the famous "Wrights Pies" – where commitment to quality and operational excellence sets us apart. 

We are currently seeking an experienced Shift Manager to oversee our production operations on a Sunday to Thursday night shift, ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency, safety, and achieving production targets.

The Role:
As our Shift Manager for our night shift, you will take full responsibility for managing our production facility during your shift. Your primary goal will be to ensure that operational standards are met, products are of the highest quality, and the environment remains safe and hygienic – all whilst keeping our fantastic people happy!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Oversight: Ensure all production activities align with the scheduled production plan while maintaining operational data accuracy throughout the shift.
  • Team Supervision: Lead and manage the work of our skilled operatives, line leaders, and Team Leaders, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to and promoting standards and compliance.
  • Quality and Compliance: Guarantee that production meets both customer and site specifications and cost standards with a focus on quality, efficiency, and reducing waste.
  • Communication and Escalation: Regularly update your team on performance metrics and incidents, and escalate factory issues as necessary using the internal procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement, measuring key performance indicators, gathering information, and implementing improvement plans.
  • Safety and Audit Readiness: Maintain an ‘audit ready’ status and manage the safety of all our colleagues and external contractors during your shift.
  • Administrative Duties: Prepare reports, participate in management meetings, and handle other relevant duties as required by the Factory Manager or site SLT.

Requirements:

  • Operational experience in managing colleagues within a complex food production facility.
  • Proficiency in TROPOS or similar ERP systems.
  • Ability to analyse and present operational KPIs such as %OEE, labour, and waste variances.
  • Strong numerical, negotiation, and managerial skills.
  • Familiarity with baking processes and key raw materials.
  • In-depth knowledge of H&S legislation and risk assessment capabilities.
  • Advanced IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to inspire, motivate and manage a large diverse team, with a strong drive to succeed.
