Senior Commercial Manager – Retail Operations is a standout retail leadership opportunity for a commercially driven operator who thrives on building high-performing, multi-channel retail/francise businesses. At The Compleat Food Group, you will lead and grow a diverse portfolio spanning retail outlets, franchise operations, van sales and vending, shaping strategy, driving operational excellence and unlocking new opportunities for profitable growth.
This is a role for someone who can see the bigger picture and make things happen on the ground. You’ll bring together people, performance, customer experience and commercial insight to ensure each channel delivers against ambitious growth plans while upholding the highest standards in health and safety, food safety, compliance and service delivery.
As part of a business driven by Food to Feel Good, [The Compleat Food Group]() is looking for a senior leader who can turn ambition into action — expanding our footprint, improving performance and creating a consistently brilliant customer experience across every touchpoint. If you’re energised by pace, complexity and the chance to build something special, this could be your next big move.
What you’ll be responsible for:
Leading growth across multiple retail channels
- Set and deliver the strategic direction for retail outlets, franchises, van sales and vending, aligned to wider business goals.
- Identify and secure new commercial opportunities, building a clear growth roadmap across all four channels.
- Use data, insight and market understanding to improve performance, profitability and customer reach.
- Set ambitious KPIs and create a culture of accountability, pace and continuous improvement.
Building and developing high-performing teams and partnerships
- Lead recruitment, onboarding and capability building for employees and franchise partners.
- Create the right structure, support and development plans to help teams and partners succeed.
- Coach, challenge and inspire managers and frontline teams to deliver consistently strong results.
- Build trusted relationships across the business and with external partners to keep momentum high and delivery on track.
Driving operational excellence
- Ensure every outlet, machine, van route and franchise location operates to the highest standards of safety, quality and customer experience.
- Lead site visits, customer reviews and operational audits, turning insight into practical improvements.
- Oversee launches, openings and installations, ensuring a seamless rollout and strong early performance.
Owning commercial and financial performance
- Take full ownership of financial performance across the operation, from budget setting and forecasting through to margin and profit delivery.
- Use strong commercial judgement to balance growth, cost control and long-term sustainability.
- Translate operational data into actions that improve sales, efficiency and return on investment.
Who we’re looking for:
- Significant senior-level experience in retail operations, ideally across multi-site, franchise or route-based models.
- A strong track record of delivering commercial growth, improving operational performance and leading change.
- Confident leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams, influence stakeholders and create followership.
- Strong financial and analytical capability, including budget management, forecasting and performance reporting.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills, with a practical, hands-on style.
- A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel regularly across the UK.
