Job Purpose
Your mission as a Hygiene Operative is to ensure that factory equipment and the working environment are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards. You’ll work alongside Production, Technical, and Engineering teams to meet all hygiene requirements and continuously strive for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Master the Use of Chemicals: Gain a full understanding of the safe and effective use of cleaning chemicals, ensuring compliance with COSHH requirements and factory regulations.
- Maintain Hygiene Standards: Ensure that factory cleaning systems, schedules, and procedures are carried out to the highest standards. You’ll make sure that all machinery, equipment, and factory surfaces meet food safety requirements.
- Protect Sensitive Equipment: Before starting any hygiene tasks, cover all control panels, motor housings, and water/chemical-sensitive equipment to protect them from damage.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all Health & Safety procedures, report hazards, and ensure the team is always working safely.
- Documentation and Reporting: Complete hygiene-related documentation accurately and on time. Report any equipment damage or incidents immediately to the Hygiene Supervisor.
- Food Safety Awareness: Develop a basic understanding of food microbiology and hygiene awareness to ensure we meet the highest food safety standards.
- Team Player: Work closely with other departments, creating a positive, collaborative environment. Help your colleagues and promote a “Clean As You Go” attitude at all times.
- Waste Management: Ensure waste is properly segregated and disposed of in accordance with company policy.
- PPE Compliance: Always wear the correct PPE for hygiene tasks and request replacements if needed.

- A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work well in a team.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure that no task is overlooked.
- The ability to work flexibly and efficiently under pressure.
- Health & Safety awareness and commitment to following guidelines and procedures.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills, along with an understanding of food hygiene practices (training provided).
