Group Hygiene Manager – Chilled Food Manufacturing
Location: Hybrid / UK with regular site travel across the group

We’re looking for a Group Hygiene Manager to lead, influence, and elevate hygiene performance across our growing business — ensuring every site operates to the highest standards of food safety, compliance, and best practice.
This is a leadership role in our Technical structure in a fast-paced, high-growth chilled food business, offering the opportunity to shape hygiene strategy, develop teams, and make a lasting impact across multiple manufacturing sites.
Reporting to the Group Technical leadership, the Group Hygiene Manager will provide independent oversight of hygiene standards, working closely with site teams to deliver a culture of hygiene excellence.
You’ll coach and support a team of site Hygiene Managers, lead independent hygiene audits, and drive high performance through effective people development, clear KPIs, and robust processes. Acting as a trusted expert, you’ll also partner with Technical, Procurement, Supply Chain and Operations to continuously improve hygiene systems, supplier performance, and compliance across all sites.
Lead and inspire a remote team of Hygiene Managers across multiple chilled food sites – travelling to our different sites on a weekly basis.
Deliver independent hygiene audits and ensure follow-up actions are effectively implemented
Drive a programme of hygiene excellence, improving KPIs and embedding best practice across the group
Provide expert troubleshooting support to resolve site hygiene challenges and non-conformances
Develop, coach, and mentor hygiene teams to build capability and consistency
Liaise with external partners to maximise service levels and compliance
Support technical and operational teams in setting and maintaining divisional hygiene standards
Consolidate and report hygiene KPIs for monthly dashboards and business reviews
Support incident investigations and deliver training and continuous improvement programmes
Collaborate with Technical and Procurement teams to enhance supplier performance and contract effectiveness
Minimum 5 -7 years’ experience in hygiene leadership within chilled food manufacturing
Degree (or equivalent) in a science-related discipline
Advanced hygiene and food safety qualifications (e.g. HACCP Level 4, Food Safety Level 4)
Proven experience in multi-site hygiene management or a senior site-based hygiene leadership role
Strong understanding of retailer hygiene and audit standards, cleaning practices, and chemical applications
Excellent communicator and influencer, able to operate effectively across all levels of the organisation
Highly organised, pragmatic, and solutions-focused, with a track record of driving measurable improvement
Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel regularly across sites
