Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for a Factory Manager to join our Production team at our Tottle Bakery site in Nottingham.  

The primary role of the Factory Manager is to ensure that the health & safety of our Production teams, and food safety, legality and quality of our products are always maintained in line with both customer specifications and business requirements.

As FM you will utilise your production and management abilities to positively support, mentor and train your direct reports, to ensure all customer orders are produced safely and in line with their specifications. With a lead by example approach, you will ensure suitable measures are in place and completed to maintain and improve GMP, improve material and labour usage and reduce waste.

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the High and Low risk areas, ensuring sufficient staffing, training, and materials to fulfil customer orders to specification with minimal waste.  You will also be responsible for supporting the FM on the opposing shift in their absence and ensure effective support is provided to all non-production teams on a daily basis.  Our goal is to always be audit ready and this role is integral to achieving this.

The site operates 24/6, 364 days a year and while this role is based on working 40 hours a week, Sunday to Wednesday 07.00-17.00, you will be required to provide support for out of hours requirements, as and when required. 

An ideal candidate will be highly knowledgeable in all aspects of food production, ideally with a High Care / High Risk, Meat or Bakery background. You will understand the challenges to deliver large volume customer orders so appropriate production decisions can be made quickly, which support warehouse and hygiene teams, without compromising quality, safety or customer and business needs.

With all your time based within the factory environments, positively leading and driving production and quality standards (HACCP), and continuous improvements to GMP and Line Controls, building relationships with non-production personnel and improving communications between the Production team and all other departments.  You will be working particularly closely with the Quality team, ensuring all products are food safe, CCP checked and fully traceable.

You will also work closely with the Hygiene and Engineering teams, to co-ordinate planned and reactive operations to ensure a clean, safe factory and provide solutions to production challenges as they develop.

You will participate and support appropriate visits and audits, including BRC, Customer and Internal events, ensuring all appropriate paperwork, reports, and non-conformances are completed as required, in a timely manner.

Additionally, you will support the Operations Manager, by managing, mentoring and coaching the Production team, including absence management, training requirements and other staff development, while ensuring day to day production tasks are completed appropriately, including attending and contributing at various internal meetings.

  • Previous Factory / Production Manager role gained from the Food Industry (or similar role looking to step up)
  • Level 3 Food Safety
