The Compleat Food Group is one of the UK's leading chilled food manufacturers, producing high-quality products enjoyed by consumers nationwide. We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Planner to join our Bristol site on a permanent basis.

The Role

As Packaging Planner, you will be responsible for ensuring packaging materials are available to support production requirements while minimising stock risk, waste, and obsolescence. Working closely with Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Warehouse teams, you will play a vital role in maintaining service levels and supporting efficient factory operations.

Alongside your core packaging planning responsibilities, you will also provide cover for the Scheduling function during planned absences, ensuring effective production plans are created to maximise service and minimise waste.

Key Responsibilities

Packaging Planning

  • Ensure packaging materials are available to meet production requirements.
  • Monitor stock levels and manage inventory to minimise waste and excess stock.
  • Identify and mitigate packaging supply risks before they impact production.
  • Maintain accurate planning data and system records.
  • Work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve shortages and delivery issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the planning function.

Production Scheduling Support

  • Provide production scheduling cover during holidays and planned absences, including occasional weekend support where required.
  • Create efficient production plans that maximise factory performance and customer service.
  • Balance capacity, labour and material availability when creating production schedules.
  • Respond effectively to changing customer demand and operational challenges.
  • Communicate plans clearly with Production and Supply Chain teams.

About You

We're looking for someone who is highly organised, analytical, and comfortable working with multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous planning experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong computer literacy, with experience using MRP/ERP systems advantageous.
  • Good understanding of food manufacturing and food safety principles.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving capability.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
