Site Engineering Manager – Chilled Food Manufacturing

Nottingham

Monday to Friday 8.30 – 17pm (Flexibility to cover where needed)

Lead a high-performing engineering function on a large, complex site within the UK's fast-growing, multi-site chilled food business.

The Compleat Food Group are one of the UK's fastest-growing chilled food manufacturer's with ambitious plans for further growth. We’re looking for an experienced Site Engineering Manager to take ownership of Asset Care at one of our most complex operations—driving safe, reliable and cost-effective performance across production-critical assets and utilities.

As a key member of the site senior leadership team, you’ll lead a mixed-ability, multi-skilled engineering team and contractor partners—creating the standards, routines and culture that underpin world-class reliability, food safety and compliance.

What you’ll be doing (high impact, high visibility):

Key responsibilities

  • Own site Asset Care delivery—setting clear standards, routines and governance so maintenance is planned, controlled and audit-ready.
  • Lead food safety and hygienic engineering compliance, ensuring interventions protect product, support GMP, and sustain hygienic design expectations.
  • Build a safety-first engineering culture: permits to work, contractor control, statutory compliance (pressure systems, lifting equipment, electrical), and robust incident RCA/close-out.
  • Drive equipment reliability and uptime: preventative maintenance aligned to criticality, strong shift handovers, disciplined reactive response and repeat-failure elimination.
  • Use CMMS data, downtime analysis and performance reviews to improve OEE, reduce waste and strengthen asset history/data integrity.
  • Own site utilities performance (including refrigeration and supporting systems) and ensure legal/food safety compliance across all services.
  • Manage the engineering budget, spares strategy and contractor performance—balancing cost control with availability and risk.
  • Support and deliver capital projects and change control (MoC), partnering with regional engineering on priorities and post-implementation review.
  • Develop and engage your team: coaching, performance management, skills gap analysis, structured training and strong on-boarding—working to create a pipeline of capability.
