We’re excited to offer an incredible opportunity for a Engineering Supervisor to join our dedicated and professional Engineering team in Middlesborough!

 The role is responsible for actively maintaining, developing, and enhancing plant machinery and associated services. This includes a wide range of duties, from responding promptly to equipment breakdowns to installing new machinery. The position also ensures that all work is carried out in full compliance with Health & Safety regulations and established Quality Standards.

Role Details:

Working Hours: 4 on, 4 off – 7am – 7pm

Role Type: Permanent, Full Time Role

Location: Middlesbrough

Salary: Up to £55,000

Your Duties Will Include:

•  Supervise the Shift Engineering team and machine minders.

•  Ensure all daily engineering tasks are completed, including signing off tool kits, conducting spot checks on engineers’ tool kits, and confirming that all breakdown sheets are fully and accurately completed.

•  Allocate and detail engineering work to team members as required.

•  Deputise in the absence of the Site Engineering Manager, acting as the point of contact for the site management team, Senior Engineering Manager, and Manufacturing Director.

•  Perform daily engineering duties, including work involving:

  • Electrical/Electronic systems
  • Hydraulics
  • Pneumatics
  • Conveyor systems (wirebelt)
  • Installations
  • Fault finding (strong competency essential)
  • Inspections and servicing

•  Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities.

•  Support and deliver project improvement initiatives.

•  Maintain, install, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment.

•  Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering and wider site operations.

•   Participate in development and training activities as required.

•  Undertake any other reasonable duties within the scope of the role.

•  Drive site efficiency forward, demonstrating a proactive approach to advancing engineering performance and supporting internal customers such as Production, NPD, and Technical teams.

•  Organise engineering tasks and effectively prioritise workloads for shift engineers.

•  Ensure weekend engineering workloads are planned and completed efficiently.

About You:

  • Qualified multi-skilled engineer with electrical bias, a proven track record and strong engineering background.   
  • Experience of PLC/HMI controls with 17th Edition. 
  • Experienced in fast moving engineering environment, ideally food related.  
  • Must have good leadership skills, be flexible with a “can do attitude” and forward thinking. 
  • Good time management skills, 
  • An excellent knowledge of fault finding and preventative maintenance  
  • The ability to work as part of a team or on your own initiative.   

The ideal candidate will have skills around quality assessment and evaluation, product development, teamwork/collaboration and strategic mindedness to support the Quality strategy and to interact with all key stakeholders to ensure changes are successful.
