Read more below about why he enjoys working for The Compleat Food Group…

What made you consider a career in engineering?

I have always had a real interest in solving problems and a passion to understand how things work. Because of this it made sense for me to study Mechanical Engineering at University. A career in Engineering provides me with the opportunity to work as part of a multiskilled team to solve a variety of challenging and complex problems.

What do you enjoy the most as an engineering graduate?

I started with The Compleat Food Group in September 2022, based at Nottingham’s Riverside Bakery as an Engineering Graduate. From my first week on site I was given a project to work on which has taught me a lot about the site and allowed me to implement changes. During my time with the business so far, I’ve had the opportunity to work within different teams, working alongside experienced supportive colleagues as well as other graduates in different departments – this has given me the experience of working with different styles of teams and different ways of working. I have also been provided with a mentor within the business who is able to give me guidance and coaching to help me get the most from the graduate scheme by creating a tailored experience to benefit my learning and my future career.

Within Engineering at TCFG, every day is different and allows me to face new problems, exposing me to new knowledge and improving my understanding of the business and the wider food industry. There is so much to learn and a wide variety of different projects to work on within the group which will allow me to apply my engineering knowledge as well as develop other essential skills such as project management.

I have already had the opportunity to visit different sites around the country offering exposure to the wider business. I have also been provided with the opportunity to undertake a master’s degree in Management and Leadership as part of this graduate scheme.

Why should you consider a career with TCFG?

The food industry is a challenging and fast paced environment, and TCFG is no exception to this. It is very challenging however it is also very rewarding. It is clear to me that TCFG is invested in supporting graduates starting their career and I would highly recommend TCFG to anyone who is considering starting their career in engineering!
