Join our team for a Fixed term contract at The Compleat Food Group, based in the heart of Crewe, Cheshire. We're seeking a passionate and driven individual to fill the temporary role of Specification Technologist/Development Assistant for a 6 month contract, where you'll play a key role in supporting on Specifications and Development work. Helping our team soar to culinary heights, whilst gaining new skills and experiences working with a very talented team.

You will be supporting the development and specification teams in delivering New and Existing products, creating brand and customer specifications in line with both our own and our customer standards against legal labelling criteria. You will build positive relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.  Provide professional and efficient administrative support to to the development function and handle specific specification customer requests and queries. 

We are looking for somebody who can be onsite at our Bakery in Crewe 2 – 3 days per week as required, but a large element of this role can be done from home.

Responsibilities:

  • -Responsible for the completion of customer specifications, including areas of raw materials, packaging and legality. NPD or EPD lead. 
  • -Accurately write Specification information and update as required to tight deadlines,  in line with customer critical paths and group level projects.
  • -Follow assigned critical paths for the delivery of customer specifications and flag if there are concerns in hitting deadlines
  • -Support our Product Developers and Product Development Managers across all customer accounts within the categories, helping to bring our savoury and sweet creations to life.
  • -Be flexible with regards working onsite, seamlessly working between our different customers where the workload demands.
  • -Attend meetings and lend your support to presentations alongside your line manager and fellow product developers.
  • -Take charge of organising and sending out product samples to our customers.
  • -Ensure safe delivery of these delicious delights by handling courier bookings and overseeing internal supply chain transport.
  • -Hit the streets (or the aisles) as you support customer store visits and sample purchasing, spreading the joy of our delectable treats.
  • -Get hands-on as you assist in the preparation of food for customers and internal meetings.
  • -Keep safety as a top priority by following all health and safety requirements during the new product development process.

Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a real passion for food and a hunger for experience in food specifications/product development. Previous experience working in a Specifications/Development team environment, along with a university degree (ideally food-related), is desirable.

  • -Be as fluent in computers as you are in cooking, with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • – Food Safety Level 2 qualification
