We are recruiting for a Senior QA Supervisor to work on the Day Shift to cover 10-12 months maternity leave, to carry out QA, technical and supervisory responsibilities at our site in Clitheroe.
You will be responsible for for:
- Aiding in the retaining of the ‘AA+’ grade from the British Retail Consortium.
- Working with production to ensure paperwork is correct and accurate traceability is maintained
- Supporting all customer visits from the technical side of the business
- Continually train and develop the production team and the QA operatives working in the factory on anything technically related
- Continually monitor shelf life samples, to ensure the protection of the business and our customers
- Micro analysis trending and performance
- Generating KPIs
- Being our product Quality ‘Champion’ covering everything from Specs to Quality to Aesthetics of the product
The role of a Senior QA Supervisor is a very varied role which include duties:
- Supporting and assisting with BRC preparation
- Completing audit preparation (Internal and Unannounced (Standard, Customer, Legal Requirements)
- Actively working on Customer Complaints Reduction
- Maintaining the Quality Management System
- Providing Quality/ Food Safety Training to Production teams
- Management of pest control site visits and non-conformance close outs
- Production date checks
- Swab results
- Be part of a team which is focused towards 100% adherence to plan
- Keeping abreast of all new Technical Information relating to the factory and all associated with it
- Develop a training plan/procedure for each department
- Control and monitor all aspects of High Care hygiene & GMP ensuring product safety
- Develop further the Factory Standards – Fabric/Flow/Control
- Attend weekly Reviews – with QA Manager, Technical Manager, Supervisors
- Raw Material Issues, Shelf Life Results and Product Quality
Typical Core Factory Duties
- Drive factory hygiene and quality standards
- Manage Environmental Swabbing Plan
- Manage paperwork compliance checks
- Manage Taste Panel Results
- Manage GMP, Glass & Plastic Audits
- Manage relevant non-conformances
- Investigate customer complaint and raise supplier complaints
- Create and prepare Procedures, Forms and product Quality Standards
- Record and report technical KPIs
- Coordinate product trials
- Carry out intake checks of products and materials delivered to site
Coach Production to enable them to:
- Follow all running sequences (Allergen), control Material Usage Variance (Life) and adhere to CCP’s
- Train factory staff on any required procedures
- Ensure all Operatives are aware and accountable for the Role in the Quality System
- Maintain food safety through coaching of staff at all levels
- To take responsibility for factory cleanliness
- Product Quality – Ensure compliance against customer specifications and attributes

Qualifications:
- Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene
- Level 3 HACCP
Key Skills:
- Microbiology
- Metal Detection higher level knowledge
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, i.e. paperwork
- Must be able to communicate effectively across departments and work well with others
- Good English (written, verbal) and good basic numeracy
- Ability to work in an organised, methodical manner
- Good IT skills
- Ability to understand & apply the requirements stated by line manager of; current applicable food legislation, BRC Global Standard, and customer codes of practice
- Analytical abilities
- Able to coach on procedures and process, when non-conformance is identified
