Group Accountant

£40,000 - £50,000 (DOE)

Following a recent internal departmental move, we are recruiting for a Group Accountant to join our group finance team at our Nottingham Head Office. 

Group Accountant:

The main purpose of this role is to ensure accurate & timely financial accounting and the ownership of the maintenance of a robust platform of processes & controls for the group finance department.

The Role:

Your working hours will be predominantly Monday to Friday 08:30 – 17:00*, we operate a hybrid working policy (*flexible approach around these hours).

Typical Duties Will Include:

  • Responsible for Central month end accounting & management of holding companies: 
  • Manage the Central holding entities, including producing monthly management accounts 
  • Monthly depreciation posting and maintenance of the fixed asset monitors and lease accounting. 
  • Responsible for monthly consolidations and Board reporting
  • Manage the Assistant Group Accountant, including review of their tasks and managing their workload & development. 
  • Work alongside the Senior Group Accountant and other Group Accountant to produce annual Group consolidation and reporting
  • Continually work to address process and control improvement, through systems and manual process improvements

You will also be involved in other ad-hoc projects such as:

Corporate Simplification, Implementation of IFRS16 Lease Accounting software and the rollout of Balance Sheet Requisitions.

You will enjoy working as part of a knowledgeable, agile, close-knit team. 

Our company works at considerable pace and is very adaptive, we are looking for somebody who is efficient, organised with a proactive approach to work.

As with all roles of this nature it requires excellent attention to detail and effective time management skills. 

You will be responsible for the management of an Assistant Group Accountant, so previous management experience is encouraged.

On occasion this role may require you to travel to the other sites within our group. Flexibility in working hours to support business requirements is a necessity.

Skills and Experiences:

  • Qualified accountant with a good grounding in financial accounting 
  • Intermediate-Advanced Microsoft Excel skills 
  • Analytical skills 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Autonomous and can prioritise efficiently
  • Team Management experience
