Key Responsibilities

This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you’ll work closely with the management team, production, development, and central technical functions. You’ll act as the Food Safety Champion, building strong internal and external relationships and ensuring our site is recognised as forward-thinking and best-in-class for food safety and compliance.

  • Ensure full due diligence is met and embedded across the site

TACCP & Vulnerability Management

  • Support the development and maintenance of TACCP/Vulnerability assessments
  • Carry out local horizon scanning, acting on central alerts and emerging risks
  • Ensure site plans align with central technical requirements

 Process Validation & Shelf Life

  • Verify and validate cook/chill processes to ensure they’re performed perfectly — every time
  • Ensure thermal and cooling parameters protect both food safety and product quality
  • Support and ensure shelf-life validation across all products and processes

Hygiene, Micro, Allergen & Foreign Body Standards

  • Set and implement correct factory and product standards during product development
  • Drive improvements through awareness of emerging legislation, technologies, and best practice
  • Ensure factory environments and equipment meet required hygiene standards and cleaning frequencies

Nutritional & Chemical Compliance

  • Review and sign off nutritional and chemical results in line with specifications and legislation
  • Ensure correct sampling plans are in place for existing products

Specifications, Packaging & Artwork

  • Sense-check and approve customer specifications, packaging, and artwork
  • Ensure compliance with legal, customer, and internal requirements
  • Flag and escalate any issues immediately

 Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Support and deliver ad-hoc technical and food safety projects
  • Provide expertise to improve quality, microbiological performance, complaints, and customer compliance

 Compliance & Auditing

  • Ensure the site has the tools and systems to meet customer codes of practice, legal requirements, and accreditation standards
  • Support completion of internal audits
  • Complete customer-specific documentation, including Sainsbury’s PSA requirements

What we are looking for:

You’re detail-driven, confident, and passionate about food safety. You enjoy collaborating across teams, influencing others, and turning standards into everyday practice. You’re comfortable balancing hands-on factory work with systems, data, and continuous improvement.
